Consumer Direct Care Network Washington (CDWA) supports Veterans enrolled in the Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program.
Through the program, eligible Veterans can purchase goods and receive services in their homes and communities. The program is an alternative to geriatrics and extended care, homemaker home health aide care, in-home respite, and adult day health care. CDWA works closely with each Veteran’s:
- Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)
- Veterans Affairs (VA) PCS Coordinator
- Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Coordinator
Veterans are in charge of their care. VDC offers a choice of supports to fit assessed needs. Services cannot duplicate ones already covered by VA medical services or other funding sources.
What’s unique about the program:
- Unlike in many other programs, in the VDC program, spouses can provide paid care.
- This program provides Work Week Limit (WWL) flexibility. Clients can purchase overtime hours with their budgets. (Goods and services, including overtime, must be preapproved by the VA PCS Coordinator.)
Veterans interested in the VDC program should talk with their VA Primary Care Provider for a referral.
